There are often dozens of symbols on the sides of our personal care products – acronyms, bunnies and at times, illegible tiny text. It can be difficult to decipher what they all mean, but it is important to realise how significant the a small logo or two particular words is for our ecosystem. Namely, “Certified Organic”!
Basically, any brand can label their products as “Organic” because it is a very difficult term to regulate. “Certified Organic”, however, can only be used by brands who meet the strict guidelines of an accredited organic certifier.
In order to meet these guidelines, a company has to make sure that:
- No synthetic chemicals, fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones or growth regulators are used
- The plants and/or plant materials used are not Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)
- The welfare of animals and the environment are respected
The entire product has to comply, it can’t just be some of the ingredients or some part of the product.
ECOCARE is proudly certified with Soil Organic Certification, an association that holds companies to a higher standard in organics. Our claims of being organic, natural and kind to the earth are not only substantiated but reflective of the values we hold in high esteem for our overall wider world and wellbeing.
